Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Netflix reached out to Whale to launch Queen Charlotte in the Benelux. The latest Shondaland title from the Bridgerton franchise required a special campaign, which would lean into much loved character, while introducing the new, young Queen and celebrating the struggles and triumphs she would face coming into power. We used her Crown as our sparkling and recognisable visual device throughout the campaign.

As the launch was set for early May, we realised there was no better way to Launch in the Netherlands then a tactical OOH take over on Kingsday. On this iconic Dutch holiday millions of people visit the key cities of Rotterdam and Amsterdam. This year the King made a Royal tour of Rotterdam. We worked with Wavemaker to secure specialised placements along the King’s route, which guaranteed huge exposure and raised curiosity and awareness for the title.

We were inspired by her Crown Jewels to create a huge installation in Galleria De ls Reine in Brussels. The crown was designed, built and installed by Circus Family, using mix of custom addressable light fixtures & skewed circle shaped mirrors seemingly floating in mid air. A crown shaped brilliance, almost like an abstracted chandelier, created a compelling light effect that brings the QC crown concept to a next level. Abstracted in it’s crown shape it’s about the breaking of light on this lightweight and versatile glimmering jewel.

Another iconic Dutch event in April is the Bloemcorso. This Colourful, fragrant spectacle is celebrated annually during one week of the year by more than one million visitors. We created a flower vehicle with another giant crown installation. As the float toured a section of the country, we had an orchestra playing music from the title within the context of the crown and surroundingsculpture of Queen Charlotte.
